Library Rules and Information

General Rules

  • Readers should maintain silence in the library and should not disturb other users in Library premises.
  • While entering the library edible items are not allowed (biscuits, cookies, fruits, chocolates, cold drinks, tea/coffee, etc.)
  • Students are entitled to renew books (max. twice) depending upon the demand of required books.
  • An overdue charge of Rs. 2/- per day will be charged on late return of books.
  • Books will be issued on producing the University Identity card.
  • Books should be checked for missing pages or damage before issue. The student will be held responsible for any damage/missing pages found, and the penalty would be at the discretion of the librarian.
  • Books or other materials taken from the stacks should not be re-shelved by the readers. Please leave it on the tables to avoid misfiling.
  • Library resources like kindle [E-Book Reader], Reference books, Periodicals, Annual reports, CDs/DVDs, previous Exam papers are to be referred within the library premises.
  • Readers should not deface, mark, cut, mutilate or damage library material in any way. If anyone is found doing so, he/she will be charged with the full replacement cost of damaged material and may lead to suspension of library account and be barred from entering the library.
  • Users of the library should note that all e-resources subscribed are licensed materials and cannot be shared with outside community as it may lead to copyright/license violation.
  • Readers are requested to handle the Library property carefully to avoid damage.
  • Issued books/Personal Books, files, notes and other personal belongings are not allowed to be bringing into in the library except your laptops.
  • Defaulting of the above rules will lead to termination of library membership or any other action which is thought proper by the Librarian.
  • Decent academic behavior is expected from users who are reading in the library.
  • Mobile Phone is to be switched off or on silent mode within the library premises.
  • Readers leaving the library should allow the library/security staff to examine their personal belongings or Library resources.

Borrowing of Library Materials

PDEU library provides general access and a full range of loan services. These services include issue of materials from the circulating collections, checking in returned materials, and shelving of reading materials. Circulation staff in the library will also assist you in placing reservation and recall requests on items that are issued out and will help you in locating items in the stack area.

Faculty/Visiting Faculty

  • 25 Books - for one semester, Duration 3 Months
  • 2 Periodicals & Reference books- for 5 days
  • 2 CD/VCD/DVD/Video etc.- for 1 days

Students

  • 3 Books - for one semester, Duration 30 days
  • 2 Periodicals & Reference books- for 5 days
  • 2 CD/VCD/DVD/Video etc.- for 1 days

Administrative and Project Staff

  • 4 Books for 30 days
  • 2 Periodicals & Reference books- for 5 days
  • 2 CD/VCD/DVD/Video etc.- for 5 days

Library Time

Issue & Return

Monday - Friday

9:00 am to 5:30 pm

  • Materials issued out from the PDEU Library are to be returned at the Circulation Desk during its working hours.
  • Materials issued out to be returned on or before the due date.
